Our story
Once upon a time (Nov, 2014), Poushali and her friends were chilling at RG Kar medical college after their MBBS final exam. Suddenly an idea pops up,
- "Let's find a boyfriend for Poushali from facebook!"
-"So which medical college, Poushali?”, asks Debjit & Pallavi.
- "Medicos have become too mainstream, I want a different taste", Poushali giggles. Hearing this, the friends decide - if not a medico then an IITian should be a good match (People studying in Indian Institute of Technologies are called IITians and are greatly coveted across India).
- "But how to find an IITian now, most of our facebook friends are medicos", Bismay asks.
- "I have a plan, I know a guy from IISER Kolkata, let's look at his profile, he must have IITian friends", Sumit suggests. Combing through the IISER Kolkata guy's profile they find more IITians than they expected.
-"How to shortlist now?" - Debjit confusingly looks at Poushali.
- "I always wanted to study in Ramakrishna Mission but could not, as they only take boys. This guy named Swarup Dey went to Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira and now in IIT Bombay. Guys I think we have our finalist" – Poushali chuckles. And that’s how it all started - with a friend request. The initial disbelief soon turned into deep conversations in all subjects from nature, movies to science, medicine and philosophy. Poushali's charming personality, compassion and simplicity kept attracting Swarup every day. Swarup's honesty, passion for science and creativity impressed Poushali. Soon they decide to meet when Swarup returns from Mumbai to Kolkata after finishing his masters. Poushali chooses the venue: Belur math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission – the place that always bore a special place in their relationship, as if it was the wish of Thakur. Dating, movie, trips around Kolkata – the 3-month vacation finishes in a nanosecond. Now comes the hard time, Swarup must travel to US for his PhD. Long distance is tough, how about a relationship across a hemisphere, 9000 miles away with a 12.5 hours of time gap? What would happen, would they be able to pass through this tunnel that life has constructed?
Well, if you are reading this, you know the answer 😊😊. 7 long years, 6.023 *1023 phone calls and a global pandemic later – Swarup and Poushali will tie the knot on 11th December, 2021. Please come to bless them with your wishes for their new chapter of life full of colors, adventures and possibilities. Swarup and Poushali will travel to US shortly after their marriage. ✈️✈️
